M1 Sports Management was founded in 2007. Co-Owners Mark & Susie Ernsting set out a goal to create a company that provides world class results through a professional team that has the versatility to meet every clients goals and objectives.
Mark Ernsting has a diverse background.
After graduating from the University of British Columbia, School of Kinesiology, Mark received a cycling and academic scholarship to attend Midwestern State University in the United States where he completed his graduate degree in Exercise Physiology. Upon graduation, Mark accepted a position as a Professor of Exercise Science & Sport Management at West Virginia Wesleyan Collage in WV (USA) where he established and created a world-class scientific testing facility. Mark’s teaching philosophy is that students learn best when required to practice what they are taught.
Mark is the first Canadian to become certified as a UCI Rider Agent and has been recognized by Canadian Cycling Magazine as one of Canada’s most influential individuals in the sport. Mark is also the CoFounder of 365 International Sport Foundation an organization that brings communities together through their sport property Our Cityride.
In his athletic career, Mark is an accomplished; five-time Canadian National Track Cycling Champion and four-time Division 1 US Collegiate National Cycling Champion. As an athlete, he has had the privilege of representing cycling teams in North America and Europe, and was part of the Canadian National Team for 10-years. Mark competed for Canada at World Cups, World Championships, Pan-Am Games, and other International Road and Track events until his retirement from the sport in 2004.
Susie Ernsting
Susie Ernsting has a long history in sport as an athlete, coach and operator.
Susie swam competitively at the national level for ten-years, earning a Div. I sport scholarship to the University of Arkansas. After completing her undergraduate degree, Susie went on to coach and recruit at the collegiate level in the United States for 3 seasons while completing her MBA.
Upon moving to Vancouver, Susie gained valuable experience in sport operations while working for the MLS startup – Vancouver Whitecaps – and now oversees the finance and sport operations of M1 Sports Management. Susie leads the triathlon and running projects and most recently acted as the Race Director for the ITU Multisport World Championships in Penticton. Susie is an avid triathlete herself having completed two Ironman races and sits on the Board for Triathlon BC and the North Shore Triathlon.
